The 90s were filled with denim jackets as it was the go-to option for every outfit. Denim jackets went along with every clothing piece, from crop tops to oversized shirts and tank tops. Our 90s clothes store is a trip in time! Today’s denim jackets date as far as the 1800s. In 1880, the first denim jacket was created by fashion expert, denim legend, and Levi’s owner, Levi Strauss. Although, Levi created denim as durable and work-efficient clothing for heavy-duty professionals, like cowboys and engineers. The world quickly caught on to this beautiful piece of work and renamed the ‘Triple pleat blouse.’

Over the past few years, the denim jacket has evolved into different designs and styles, with Hollywood playing a significant role in this influence. And our 90s clothes store has kept pace. Today, denim jackets symbolize edginess, and individuality, and represent youthful exuberance. They are perfect for beachy, casual, and even corporate outfits. If your outfit is plain or too dull, put on denim and boots to transform its look.

2)      Vintage denim pants

The 90s fashion was all about denim and grunge; as a teen, your wardrobe was incomplete with just a few pieces of oversized denim jeans you got at Anchor Blue with your savings. Our 90s clothes store can fix that for you!

Like denim jackets, denim jeans share a strikingly similar history; however, denim jeans involved the partnership of Jacob Davis, who created the first replica of what you and I know today as jeans. In the late 1800s, Jean and Davis became partners and patented Jeans. Jeans were named after a city in Italy, Genoa, where corduroy was manufactured.

Several years later, the public adoption of jeans had risen, most notably in the late 1970s and the early 1980s, ushering a new era in what the 00s would wear as designer denim jeans. Today, jeans are an essential piece of clothing and can be paired with almost anything—tops, shirts, jackets, and any clothing that exists.

So, pretend it’s the 90s and our 90s clothes store online is Anchor Blue, and pick the best of your heart’s desire in our catalogue of jeans.

3)      Vintage flannels

Do you know flannel shirts have a history that can be traced back to the late 16th century to the early 17th century? Before its present modernization and popularization, flannel shirts originated from Wales. Welsh farmers needed protection from the horrendous North Atlantic wet, windy, and misty weather, as their plain woolen garb was ineffective.

They came up with an idea to create a material called gwalanen, known as woolen material in the Welsh language. Hence, flannel was first made from leftover sheared wool from sheep, and was created through a process known as carding. Carding is a new production process that detangles and softens yarn so that they can be made into thinner, softer materials that still retain normal wool toughness.

Since carding was relatively cheaper and less time-consuming, many Welsh farmers were seen with flannels, catching the eye of the Englishman, which led to the commercialization of flannels. And if its flannels you want, then our 90s clothes store won’t disappoint you!

The 90s witnessed a massive increase in flannels, and it’s all thanks to grunge bands exposé. Since flannels were essential clothing’s in a lot of grunge bands as they represented the feeling of not caring. Fans began to pick interest in it, hence the massive adoption.

Unlike most clothing choices with limited use, flannels are different, and can be worn in several ways. You can never go wrong with flannels, denim, and boots, cropped flannel-like top, or flannel suits.

4)      Vintage tops and blouses

Do you know the present-day T-shirt was once a tool of rebellion and political outcry—don’t believe me? Years before fashion became more revolutionized, T-shirts were strictly underwear – worn underneath suits or work outfits. However, the 1950s changed this narrative; when Hollywood heart robs, Marlon Brando and James Dean began sporting this look, a new culture was formed.

Since opinions and rules were still held rigidly, wearing T-shirts of any sort was seen as an act of rebellion. The following decade utilized this stereotype and used T-shirts as a tool to show grievances against the elite as peace slogans were now imprinted on them.

This commercial success of T-shirts resulted in more varieties like Tank tops, crop tops, and V necks – all of which, and more! – you’ll find at our 90s clothes store. Fortunately, our website also offers different vintage styles and designs of rage blouses like floral, patterned, or shaped vintage tops, crop tops, band-designed round necks, and feminine v necks. The guys are not excluded, as there are different tank tops, crop tops, muscle shirts, and t-shirts.

5)      Vintage sweatshirts

Without the honourable mention of designer-based and high school-themed sweatshirts, 90s fashion is incomplete. And the curators at our 90s clothes store have dome a great job of sourcing fine vintage sweats.

Like every price of clothing with history, the sweatshirt is not an exception as the earliest produced sweatshirt was invented in the 1920s by high school American football player Benjamin Russell Jr. Russell was tired of the chafing effect of their uniforms and decided to make something cooler and skin-friendly as their woollen shirts caused massive chaffing to the skin. That decision by this hero changed the world’s fashion sense.

He set out to work immediately with his father, who owned a manufacturing company, The Russell Manufacturing Company, that specialized in making jerseys and clothing. The first sweatshirt was made with thick and breathable cotton that was loose, collarless, and could be pulled over the head immediately. That design spread like wildfire, and Russell’s father set up Russell Athletic Mills for the sole production of sweatshirts which has expanded into a multi-national company.

The 1980s was the year of fashion collaboration with sports, propelled by logomania that allowed designers to cash out designer sweatshirts for commercial fashion use. From the era of Calvin Klein ‘CK’ and Vivienne Westwood’s ‘Anglomania,’ sweatshirts became affordable wear for everybody.

6)      Vintage skirts

Vintage skirts had a spike during the world war era where salaries saw the highest rises, allowing adults to pursue a wider wardrobe style as money was no longer a limiting factor. Women took to mini skirts from their usual long dressers, beginning a new era of women’s freedom in their choice of clothing.

At our 90s clothes store, you’ll find a long catalogue of denim vintage skirts and floral vintage skirts of varying lengths and designs.
