The easy style of Boho Chic is something we all aspire too now that autumn is here. This autumn the 1970s are upon as they were during the summer months.

Yes, the 80s are hovering around this autumn too, but the 70s boho feel is definitely there to embrace.

Boho Chic-AW 2015

We have the Fedora in muted autumn colours, the beautifully patterned dresses, skirts, coats and bags and the loose, soft blouses to wear with suede knee high boots.

How do you achieve the art of boho chic that’s specifically designed for autumn?

Yes we’ve done the 1970s fashion boho summer thing, the maxi dresses and sandals, but that’s now over and ahead of us are the autumn months and colder, crisp evenings.

Ethnic styles with textures, fabrics and shapes

The autumn brings ethnic style with a bohemian feel with fringed bags, colourful poncho-capes, and maxi skirts.

There are some great natural fabrics with suede, leather, silk, denim and cotton, even velvet and fur are helping to create the free spirit movement of boho chic. There’s layers and big, dramatic, detailed prints.

The poncho cardigan is really big this season as are tapestry bags, with the clever use of beautiful colour and exquisitely detailed patterns.

There’s flared trousers in beautiful velvet, fur jackets, and of course shearling. Cuffs are fur and there are some great knits, colourful and easy to wear with earthy, muted block colours.

Boho Chic – Layers and oversized knits

Oversized knits and layers are two crucial features of the boho look this season, with colourful accessories, and there are multiple ways you can wear each item, giving you a great deal of choice.

It’s about mixing and blending different shapes, styles, colours and textures to create a rich boho feel.

Capes, poncho-cardigans are so easy to wear and create a great layered look without looking too bulky and you can easily wear them both indoors and outdoors.

Paisley prints

Prints are all about paisley on dresses and tunic tops.

It’s a great print and gives colour and vivacity to any outfit. You can wear it underneath a structured jacket or beneath a beautiful draped poncho or cape.

As we’ve already mentioned, textures will play a big part along with different styles and shapes.Suede is a great texture and always popular as the colder months take hold, helping to keep your outfit stylish as well as comfortable.

Boho Chic – Leather, tweed and fur

Think of other textures such as leather, faux fur and tweed, which are great for the autumn months.A leather jacket in your wardrobe is a must and matches everything you have and especially goes with some of the colours and styles trending this autumn.

The boho look is something that’s easy enough to achieve.Mixing colours and textures may seem daunting if you’re not confident, but just go for it and make sure you have strong accessories to make the whole thing work.

Vintage Boho Chic

Naturally, vintage boho clothing is good – in fact it’s even better.

Go shopping for significant pieces and mix and match them with what you have in your wardrobe.Think layers, different textures and smart, colourful prints.

There’s bound to be some really unique pieces from the 70s that can be fitted into a contemporary palate, and the 70s knew how to do a boho look like no other decade.

Learn from the experts and find vintage items that can help make autumn come alive to boho chic.
